Pier Marzocca

Director

Distinguished Professor Pier Marzocca is the Director for the Sir Lawrence Wackett Defence & Aerospace Centre and former Associate Dean for the Aerospace Engineering and Aviation Discipline in the School of Engineering at RMIT University. He is an Adjunct Professor at the Australian Maritime College, University of Tasmania, and a Research Professorial position from Clarkson University in USA, with academic credentials from Virginia Tech, University of South California, the US Naval Research Laboratory. He held a PhD and Master from Politecnico di Torino Italy. Prof Marzocca is internationally recognised for his work on aerospace aerodynamics, structures, controls and their interactions, and health management diagnostics and prognostics. Prof Marzocca received the DSTG Achievement Award for research collaboration, RMIT STEM DVC Impact Award, Daine Alcorn Medal, and the STEM Industry and Engagement in Research Award, the SAE Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award, the SAE Forest R. McFarland Award, the ONR ASEE Senior Faculty Award, the Clarkson's Research Excellence, and Outstanding New Teacher Awards. He is an Associate Fellow of AIAA, Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society Australian Division, FIEAust EngExec and CPEng by Engineers Australia, the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Aeronautical and Space Sciences, and Associate and Section Editor of ASCE Journal of Aerospace Engineering. Pier Marzocca is an accomplished author of over 500 technical papers and has supervised more than 40 PhD and Master students to completion.
