REACHING HIGHER MENTOR MATCHING PROGRAM

Aviation/Aerospace Australia invites you to participate in Round 4 of the A/AA Reaching Higher Mentor Matching Program.

Round 4 of the Program identifies three streams of mentoring to help focus the purpose and outcomes for participants.

By taking part in this program, you will:

  • Engage in knowledge and skill sharing for career development
  • Increase leadership capacity and highlight championing behaviours for the sectors
  • Apply lived experience within the pipeline to practical solutions for participants

MENTORS WILL:

  • Guide and facilitate the individual towards the achievement of mutually agreed outcomes
  • Act as an independent, confidential sounding board and provide a ‘second opinion’ when discussing issues and solutions
  • Provide motivation and encouragement regarding overcoming challenges and the attainment of goals 
  • Assist in developing insight into potential barriers to development
  • Challenge the individual where appropriate regarding assumptions, unrealistic and unconstructive thought and/or behaviour pattern

MENTORING STREAMS

WOMEN IN AVIATION/AEROSPACE AUSTRALIA ASPIRING EXECUTIVE STREAM

Aimed at women in the aviation, aerospace, and space industries looking for growth and guidance to achieve executive leadership opportunities in the future. This stream is female-only with the purpose to build a network of female Mentors for the future sectors.

  • Mentees should have at least 10 years of industry experience 
  • Mentors should have at least 15 years of industry experience

NEXT GENERATION NETWORK UNDER 35s STREAM

Aimed at individuals under 35 and university students looking to make connections to industry to assist with job readiness and early career progressions. This stream is open to all genders.

  • Mentees should have minimum approximately 3 years of study
  • Mentors should have at least 10 years of industry experience

CHAMPIONS OF CHANGE STREAM

Aimed at individuals who want to support continued change in the industry, whether that be better gender diversity, sustainability or change that positively impacts the sectors and business overall. This stream is open to all genders.

  • Mentees should have minimum 5 years of industry experience
  • Mentors should have minimum 10 years of industry experience

TIMELINE

  • Participants must apply and complete the online survey by 27 September 2023
  • Participants need to be available to participate in the program remotely or in-person from October 2022 – through until April 2023
  • WA/AA Executive Stream meetings are at the discretion of the timeline established by Mentor and Mentee
  • NextGenNetwork and Champions of Change Stream meetings between mentee and mentor are generally recommend once per month for 1-2 hours, and can be virtually or in-person

  • Option for organisations to provide a Mentee and a Mentor to be matched with others
  • Limited cohort with up to 15 pairs in each stream
