A/AA STRENGTHENS CHINESE TIES WITH INBOUND SHENYANG DELEGATION

Aviation/Aerospace Australia this week hosted a high-level government delegation from one of China's fastest growing and most dynamic regions.

The delegation from Shenyang province was led by the Party Secretary of Shenyang (the capital city of Liaoning Province), Mr Wei Zeng, and included senior officials responsible for China's leading Air Show and for the creation of one of China's largest aviation technology precincts.

A/AA CEO Jim Carden said the Shenyang delegation was a further step in the developing friendship between the Association and the strategically important Liaoning Province, which serves a population of around 25 million and is rapidly transforming its traditional manufacturing economy towards a focus on high-tech industries like aviation.

Mr Carden said the delegation was extremely impressed with the calibre of Australian aviation and aerospace offering, and talks centred on the establishment of partnerships on pilot training; manufacturing; the development of the General Aviation sector; and a range of other opportunities.

"Australia's industry, educators, regulators and trainers are highly regarded in China, and there is a small but important opportunity for us to establish key partnerships with strategically important centres like Faku county in Shenyang," Mr Carden said.

" We look forward immensely to reciprocating the visit when A/AA heads to China with a trade mission later this year, which will be marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Collaboration to further develop opportunities for Australian companies in the extraordinary China market."
