Women in A/AA VIC Summit 2018

The 12th annual Women in Aviation/Aerospace Australia Summit will take place on Wednesday 17 October 2018 at Melbourne's RACV City Club, bringing together public, private, civil and defence sectors to move the needle on gender diversity.These summits are designed to facilitate change in our industry to a more diverse and gender inclusive workforce. In order to achieve this shift, senior executives and change makers are encouraged to attend.

PROGRAM 

Commerical Keynote: 

Captain Lisa Norman / Manager, B787-9 Introduction, Qantas Airways 

Captain Lisa Norman has been with Qantas for 29 years and is currently the Manager for the Introduction of the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner into Flight Operations. In her career Lisa has flown a variety of aircraft including the B747-400, B767, A330 and now B787. After starting out as a Flight Instructor in Victoria, she’s completed a Bachelor of Aviation, studied Financial Management at UTS, FX trading, Aviation Medicine (RAAF) and external Leadership courses. Lisa led a great team of people landing the first Qantas Dreamliner into Sydney in October 2017. In March this year Lisa was a Captain on the inaugural QF9 Perth-London service.

Military Keynote: 

Marija Jovanovich / Test Pilot, Royal Australian Air Force

Wing Commander Marija Jovanovich is a military test pilot and the RAAF’s most senior female pilot. As an AP3C Orion pilot, she flew on operations and exercises all over the world, including the Middle East, southwest Pacific and southeast Asia. In 2014, she was the first Australian in 25 years to graduate from USAF Test Pilot School. Marija holds multiple degrees in science and engineering and has over 3200 hours flying experience, on over 30 different aircraft types.

Lockheed Martin supported mentee spaces

Women in A/AA is pleased to announce 30 spaces will be made available with the aim of inspiring the next generation of female aviation professionals to select a career in aviation or continue to pursue their studies and feel connected with the industry. This includes full day attendance at the summit, including all meals and sessions with the cost covered by Lockheed Martin. Applications for complimentary mentee attendance must be submitted directly to Samantha after a paid booking has been made via the A/AA website. Limit of two (2) mentee spots are available per table booking and limit of one (1) mentee space per individual bookings.

Mentee applications will be assessed on the below requirements and accepted on a first received basis. Please email [email protected] addressing the four points below.

Must be attending with a paid (professional) ticket  - please provide name of booking 

Provide details of the course/school enrolled (attach proof of enrolment) 

Provide 30 words on your career aim – why are you interested in aviation and which career role are you pursing

Age limit: 15 – 24 (Exceptions can be made for those already in the industry and already undertaking the training process of transitioning to a technical role)
