Male Champions of Change Panel

We are thrilled to present to you our ‘Male Champions of Change’ panel hosted by Boeing. We have invited four male industry professionals to discuss their views on the industry and how they take action on gender inequality, to support gender equality! They will provide us with insight in to the actions they and other male champions of change take, to influence and support women and ultimately drive change across the private and government sectors.


MODERATOR:

Kathleen Boseley
/ Manager Engineering Services at Airbus in Australia Pacific

Kathleen Boseley, BEng Avionics has over two decades experience at five large aerospace companies in three countries with predominantly engineering lead, quality, technical engineering management, and project management roles spanning all phases of aircraft and avionics lifecycles.  She has presented papers at various Navigation conferences in the USA and was named one of the 50 leaders to watch by GPS World in 2008. She has served as Deputy Chief Engineer on the MRH 90 helicopter, the Head of Independent System Monitoring and the Manager of Engineering Services across all platforms supported by Airbus in Australia and became an Engineering Fellow with Engineers Australia in 2018.

Darren Edwards
/ Vice President and Managing Director, Boeing Defence Australia 

Appointed Vice President and Managing Director of Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) in February 2017, Darren manages all BDA businesses and functions at the organisation’s 14 Australian and three international sites. Darren’s career in aviation is vast, including - Director of Supply Chain Management for Tactical Aircraft and Weapons Support; Chief Operating Officer of BDA and various Director-level positions in Strategic Partnerships with Learning, Training and Development. Darren also spent 14 years as an Army Officer, where he held numerous command and logistics appointments. Edwards holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration - Integrated Logistics from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of New South Wales. He is a graduate of the Australian Defence Force Academy and Royal Military College, Duntroon.

Alastair Braddock
/ Program Manager at Airbus Australia Pacific 

Currently responsible for overseeing the Fleet Operations and Service Delivery of Through Life Support to the Australian Defence Force MRH90 Taipan Multi Role Helicopter, Alastair previously worked in the Construction Industry and brings to Airbus (Australian Aerospace at the time) a unique non-Aerospace and non-Defence perspective to one of the largest Defence procurements of the past decade. His leadership style is focused around supporting the people around him to be as enabled to succeed as possible. In 2018, Alastair was recognised by Airbus as an emerging talent and has spent time since engaged in a leadership program aimed at international talent across the company, which seeks to drive change from within the business and supports his development as a senior leader of tomorrow. Committee member on the local Airbus Inclusion & Diversity Committee in 2019, after furthering his interest in I&D after remotely attending a Male Champions of Change panel event in 2018.

Adam Fennessy 
/ EY Partner - Advisory, Government & Public Sector

Adam Fennessy is a Partner in Ernst & Young's Advisory Practice, with a focus on government and strategy. This follows a 20-year career at State and Federal Government level, including over four years at Secretary (CEO) level. Adam was appointed as a member of the inaugural Victorian Male Champions of Change group in 2015 and led change to embed gender equity across Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) and areas of state government. Adam was awarded a Public Service Medal as part of the 2018 Australia Day Honours list, for “outstanding public service to a range of government departments in Victoria.” Adam will be joining us at the WA/AA summit too.

Dr Gui Lohmann 
/ Assoc. Prof. in Aviation & Deputy Head of the Aviation Discipline, School of Engineering & Built Environment at Griffith University

Dr Gui Lohmann is Associate Professor in Aviation and the Deputy Head of the School of Engineering and Built Environment at Griffith University. Dr Lohmann is a former Head of the Aviation Discipline at the same institution. Among other initiatives, Dr Lohmann is proud of the growth in female student participation in the Aviation programs at Griffith University, from 13 %, in 2013, to over 22%, in 2018. Dr Lohmann will be joining us at the WA/AA summit, facilitating a STEM student panel discussion.
