Dr Guido Carim Junior, Head of Discipline (Aviation) at Griffith University
Dr Guido Carim Junior is an aviation expert with a unique background built upon a range of diverse experiences. He has worked as a safety investigator, human factors specialist, safety data analyst, safety ethnographer, flight and ground training instructor, airline pilot, educator, speaker, mentor, and consultant. He is currently the Head of Griffith Aviation, Griffith University, leading a team of 9 dedicated academics and more than 600 passionate students. In addition to the leadership role, Dr Guido where he is responsible for the Graduate Certificate of Aviation Management and the Master of Aviation Management. Guido is responsible for the Safety Management Systems subject, which is delivered for over 200 under and postgraduate students. Working as an Embraer 190/95 pilot and the head of the Human Factors Department at Azul Airlines, he was responsible for implementing the Line Operations Safety Audit and the Fatigue Risk Management System and for reviewing the Cockpit Resource Management program.
Celeste Lando, HR Officer at Quickstep
Celeste is a dedicated Human Resources Officer at Quickstep, where she is able to leverage her Bachelor of Business with a specialisation in Human Resource Management and practical hands-on career experience, to provide support and implement best practices in Quickstep’s recruitment practices for both internship programs and vacant positions.
Celeste finds great pleasure in supporting the wider team and seeing team members have a seamless integration and growth beyond their initial onboarding. Her passion shines through in her commitment to understanding needs and requirements, building meaningful relationships, and fostering a supportive and engaging work environment. Additionally, Celeste is enthusiastic to share these insights with the next generation about the rewarding STEM career opportunities available with an employer of choice - Quickstep.
Stephanie McCulloch, Solution Architect, BAE Systems Maritime Australia & Committee Member at NextGenNetwork
Steph is a proud Solution Architect in Maritime at BAE Systems Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering from RMIT University and Certificate in Business Acumen from Melbourne Business School. Steph has 3 years’ prior experience in Aerospace, contributing to the Hawk Lead-In Fighter project across various engineering roles in Newcastle, NSW. During this time, Steph was awarded 2021 Graduate Community Service Graduate of The Year for her consistent contribution to STEM outreach, right from her first year of university. As a long-serving A/AA NGN Committee Member, supporting the current and younger generations is one of her greatest passions. Steph is also a big foodie and animal lover, who loves to cook and learn about new cultures, and has a handsome Ginger cat called Gerald.
Deepa Selva, Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate at Swinburne University & Committee Member at NextGenNetwork
Deepa Selva is a final year Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) student, majoring in Mechanical and minoring in Space Technology, at Swinburne University of Technology, where she is currently doing her final year research project partnered with BMW Motorrad Berlin and another research project with CSIRO and Surface Engineering for Advanced Materials Arc Training Centre (SEAM). She gathers cutting edge technical skills outside of her studies from contributing to the Mechanical Structures & Thermal Analysis Team at the Melbourne Space Program and Formula-SAE team at Swinburne where she tackles complex challenges from race car dynamics to satellite deployment. As the former Events and Communications Assistant at Aviation Aerospace Australia, Deepa values meaningful connections and work-life balance, and using every opportunity as a learning ground. Deepa strives to blend her academic achievements, hands-on experience from her internship at Galaxy Aerospace Malaysia, and leadership qualities to be a future leader with a compelling voice in shaping the future of aviation, aerospace and engineering industry.
