NextGenNetwork, Civil Air and AFAP invite you to join us for an upcoming joint panel discussion and networking event in September!

If you are interested in becoming involved in the aviation industry outside of your operational role, please come along to hear the stories of our panel members. They will discuss their experiences and answer your questions about how to become involved in projects, conferences and other opportunities in aviation. 

This event will comprise of a panel discussion session followed by a networking hour with your air traffic controllers from Airservices, pilots from AFAP and members of the Aviation/Aerospace NextGen Network. There will be light refreshments served during the networking hour, so please advise of any dietary requirements in your RSVP

 

SPEAKERS:

Ben Gorrie / Civil Air Australia 
Ben has ben an en-route air traffic controller in Melbourne since 2009. Ben has held operational training, check & standardisation, procedures specialist and supervision & shift management roles during this time. 


Scott Shallies / Civil Air Australia 
Scott Shallies has been an air traffic controller for 37 years, with the experience in tower and en-route environments. Scott is currently a Systems Supervisor in Melbourne ATSC. He has experience in procedural and surveillance sectors, arrivals, check control, training, safety investigations and most recently systems management as Chief Operating Authority.


Allanah Parker / Air Services Australia 
Allanah is an aerodome service specialist for Airservices Australia. She has a broad experience base across leadership, innovation and training spanning 13 years in the indusry. She started out in aviation as a recreational pilot in New Zealand and competed in regional flying compeitions. She went on to gain her Commercial Pilots Licence prior to joining Airways New Zealand as an Air Traffic Controller (ATC) in 2009.


Captain David Booth / President Australian Federation of Air Pilots
David holds a Bachelor of Law with the University of Western Australia and was admitted to practice as a Solicitor in 1995. He was an Articled Clerk with Phullips Fox Solicitors in 1995 before becoming a Legal Officer with the Royal Australian Air Force from 1996-1999. David commenced his civilian aviation career with Northern Air Charter, completing flights between Gove, Halls Creek and Darwin. 


Captain Marcus Diamond / Australian Federation of Air Pilots
Marcus holds a Bachelor of Science at Melbourne University. His career as a commercial pilot spans over 25 years, holding fixed wing Airline Transport Pilot Licenses under the Australia, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand authorities. His operational management roles include flight operator managerment of a Boeing 737 fleet and Deputy Chief Pilot to CEO of a small Part 121 regional airline.
