Reaching Higher - Mentoring Program for Aviation and Aerospace Australia

Aviation/Aerospace Australia introduces a structured program with a series of workshops/interactions, initial training, ongoing guidance and supports which offers benefits such as: 

/ Improving employee engagement and retention

/ Enabling knowledge sharing and career development 

/ Increased leadership capacity

/ Positively impacting financial performance (as a result of the above)

/ Formal mentoring programs are proven to have greater results than those that are informal or un-structured and will present a professional and support approach by A/AA.


Timelines

/ Participants must apply, make payment and complete the survey by Wednesday 5 September 2018.

/ Participants need to be available to travel to Melbourne at own cost in for the first half day workshop end September/early October 2018. 

/ Workshop #2 will be held in late Jan and workshop #3 in mid-March 2019

/ Participants need to be available to participate in the program remotely and in person from September 2018 through until March 2019.

/ Meetings between mentee and mentor are recommend once per month for 1-2 hours and can be via Skype.

Mentors will:

/ Guide and facilitate the individual towards the achievement of mutually agreed outcomes;

/ Act as an independent, confidential sounding board and provide a 'second opinion' when discussing issues and solutions;

/ Provide motivation and encouragement regarding overcoming challenges and the attainment goals;

/ Assist in developing insight into potential barriers to development; and

/ Challenge the individual where appropriate regarding assumptions, unrealistic and unconstructive though and/or behaviour patterns.

 

Why participate?

/ Professional matching

/ Point of difference – cross-pollination across companies and skills sets to allow advancement in personal skills and to assist mentees in navigating the system by discussing scenarios or challenges in the workplace 

/ Mentors participate voluntarily (can be male or female)

/ Option for companies to provide a mentee and a mentor to be matched with others

/ Mentee’s should have a least 3 years of industry experience or 3 years of study and can be male or female 

/ Mentors should have at least 5 years of industry experience

/ Offered Nationally 

/ Limited cohort with 10 pairs 

/ Commencing September 2018 – Completion March 2019

/ Investment: $1500 inc GST for member organisations, $3500 for non-member organisations
