A/AA invites our industry members for lunch, to network and discuss the latest industry trends.

EXECUTIVE LUNCH GUEST PRESENTER: 
The Honourable John Sharp AM.

The Hon John Sharp is an aviator, having been a licensed pilot of both fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft. Mr. Sharp was a member of the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth Parliament for between 1984 and 1998. During that period, he was Shadow Minister for Transport and then Minister for Transport from 1988 to 1997. He retired from the House of Representatives in 1998 and established his own high-level aviation and transport consulting company. 

Mr. Sharp is currently the Deputy Chairman of Rex and Chairman of Pel Air & he is a Director and part owner of Skytraders, a company operating aircraft for the Australian Antarctic Commission.

Additionally, Mr Sharp is a Director of Luerssen Australia; a Director of Australian Maritime Shipbuilding Export Group, Director of Power and Data Corporation, Honorary Treasurer of John McEwan House, Director of the Tudor House Foundation, and Director of the Climate Change Authority.  

Former roles include: Chairman of the Aviation Safety Foundation of Australasia; Founding Director of Airbus Group, Australia Pacific; Director of Eurocopter Australia Pacific, Chairman of the Parsons Brinkerhoff Advisory Board, Chairman of Winifred West Schools Foundation and he has been a member of the University of Wollongong Vice Chancellor’s Advisory Board. 
 
Mr. Sharp served as a Director of the Flight Safety Foundation, following his receipt of the Foundation’s Presidential Citation for Aviation Safety. He was also a Director of the French, Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Co-Chair of the Cancer Council of NSW Southern Highlands Branch.

Mr. Sharp was named a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to the people and Parliament of Australia to the aviation industry and to the community during the Queen’s Birthday Honours in June 2018.
