Enterprise Stewardship Manager, C-130J - Airbus Australia Pacific
 

Darryl Stokes has worked in the Aerospace sector for 36 years.  Most recently, he has worked for Airbus for over 8 years. During his tenure, he has held the positions of C-130J Engineering Manager, C-130H Operations Manager (dual hatted as the project manager for the sale of the ex-RAAF C-130H aircraft to Indonesia) and more recently as the C-130J Enterprise Stewardship Manager.  

Airbus is responsible for the C-130J Through Life Support contract. The Airbus C-130J team has earned the respect of the Air Mobility Group community as a skilled and respected organisation with recognition for immediately tackling the tough issues.  Darryl encourages teamwork, customer focus and innovation.  As a result of this focus, his team is encouraged to identify cost of ownership initiatives which, in turn, delivers increased value to the customer.  

Prior to joining Airbus, Darryl was employed by Defence Materiel Organisation (now CASG) as the Director of the C-130J Block Upgrade Program.  Previous to this, he served in the Royal Australian Air Force for nearly 27 years with the majority of his career working on Air Mobility platforms.  

Darryl completed an Electrical Engineering Degree gaining 1stClass Honours and subsequently completed a Master of Management Studies in Project Management. A highlight of his service as an Engineer was a three year posting to Marietta, Georgia, USA where he served as the Technical Liaison Officer for the recently acquired C-130J aircraft.

Notable achievements include the successful negotiation with LM Aero for a free software upgrade estimated to cost US$10M, successful implementation of the Working at Heights policy across Air Mobility Group and successful project management of the C-130J Planned Servicing Schedule Review which increased aircraft availability by 8% (equivalent to one free aircraft).

Darryl recently left Airbus to join Rockwell Collins where he now works as the Chief Engineer/Principal Manager, Engineering.
