A/AA Beyond COVID-19

Tue 11 Aug 2020 (3:00 pm - 4:30 pm)

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the aviation and aerospace industry and the work of many individual professionals.  These challenging times have created opportunity for innovation, multidisciplinary collaboration and the re-alignment of the skills of aviation and aerospace professionals to new contexts. It has challenged the way we work and connect with everyone, everywhere. Undoubtedly some innovations and changes will become more permanent.

The first of our Beyond COVID-19 Virtual Series will discuss airports, airport design and transformation and air traffic control. With an overall focus on how the aviation/aerospace industries and organisational landscape will look beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.

MC

/ Tamara Bell | Executive Director at Aviation/Aerospace Australia

/ Rebecca Chandler | Senior Aviation Planner, Airport Planning at Brisbane Airport Corporation

Rebecca is a self-confessed aviation fanatic, with almost 20 years of experience working in the industry. She first started her aviation career in 2003 securing a reservation sales role with Virgin Australia whilst completing dual university degrees in International Business and Asian Studies. After 4 years and post her graduation, instead of heading overseas to embark on a marketing career, Rebecca took her growing passion for aviation and transitioned to the Ground Operations team at Brisbane Airport. She worked in a diverse range of airport roles including many customer facing positions, management of aircraft movement coordination through to process development and new initiative implementation. In 2011 Rebecca obtained a role in the Airline’s Airport Planning team and was the company programme lead in managing the induction of new Airports into the Virgin Australia network. She also managed Virgin Australia’s planning, development and project delivery interests across a large portfolio of mainline and regional airports. In 2017 Rebecca changed tact and moved from the Airline world into the Airport world, commencing a new role with Brisbane Airport Corporation. Today Rebecca is a Senior Aviation Planner at BAC, and an integral member of the Strategy, Planning and Technology team working on a number of strategic planning initiatives, including the implementation of new security compliance requirements and BNE’s 20-year future Airport Development Plan.
