Biography

Hayley holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Advanced Manufacturing and Mechatronics from RMIT University and holds a multirotor 25kg Remote Pilots License and Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate through Aviassist. 

Her experience spans systems engineering, mechanical design, control and management systems, test and evaluation, and safety within aerospace, rail, and defence industries in Melbourne and Adelaide. Since completing her capstone project where she prepared the autonomous vision system for the UAV Medical Rescue Challenge, a competition run by QUT and CSIRO, she developed a keen interest in being at the forefront of cutting-edge research within aviation, leading to her current role as a Mechanical Engineer at BAE Systems Australia, designing systems to go on civilian aircraft to test and prepare defence assets.

She is deeply passionate about inspiring the next generation of women to pursue a career in STEM and women’s rights globally. She has organised and been the Master of Ceremony for several International Women’s Day events in Melbourne and Adelaide, volunteered at Women in Engineering initiatives, industry open days at Universities and the Avalon Airshow, and served on a selection interview panel for the National Youth Science Forum. Outside of engineering Hayley is an avid reader, loves travelling, exploring the outdoors, and experiencing new places and cultures.
