Altitude 2017, a successful showcase of our industry's future leaders

Last Tuesday A/AA NGN held its 4th Altitude event, designed specifically to showcase Australia’s best and brightest newcomers to our Industry.

Hosted by A/AA Corporate Partner RMIT University, this event was a unique opportunity for our younger generation to showcase their innovative ideas to industry leaders. Carefully selected by the NextGenNetwork committee, six future leaders presented their ideas in six-minute pitches, to an audience of around 50 professionals.

The event kicked off with a Keynote from the Head of Aerospace Programs Australia at Northrop Grumman, Scott Harris, who informed the crowd of the new Triton program for the NT RAAF, as well as a new frontier for unmanned systems.

The six below speakers then presented on the below topics with the challenge to passionately convey their idea within the timeframe, with the aid of no more than three presentation slides.

/ Disrupting Aviation: Creativity, Inclusivity and Regulation
Rohan Kapoor, Masters student, RMIT University

/ A differentiated model for inbound baggage handling at airports
Ahamed Ashik Koottappilakkal, Postgraduate in Aerospace & Aviation, RMIT University

/ Connecting & shaping aviation
Lit Feng Loh, Engineering Technology (Aerospace) Student at RMIT University

/ Fly by no wire
Meaghan Munro, Aerospace Engineering Student, Monash University

/ Dynamic Airspace Management: A new paradigm in aviation
Niveditha Premlal, Aerospace Engineering Student, RMIT University

/ Necessity: The mother of Innovation
Claire Watson, Aerospace Engineering Student, Monash University

Feedback from all attendees so far has been overwhelmingly positive, and A/AA NGN are committed to continue to bridge the gap between the future & established leaders in Australia. Their next event continues on with this theme – ‘Drinks with the Boss’ – an informal networking evening, this time with the CEO & Vice President of Lockheed Martin, Vince Di Pietro at a bar in Melbourne’s CBD. It’s on next Wednesday 6 December from 6pm, and for more information & to register please click here.
