Testimonials
Michael Edwards:
“The A/AA Reach Higher Mentoring Program was a great way for industry participants to learn and grow from each other’s experience. I learned a lot about a corner of the aviation sector from my mentee that I no idea about before! Look forward to continuing to be part of the program in future.”
Belinda Passwell:
"When I joined the A/AA mentoring program, I had just returned to Australia after many years living and working overseas. I was keen to focus more deeply on sustainability in aviation and A/AA took the time to read my application and paired me with one of the mentors I’d requested—which I’m incredibly grateful for.
My mentor was a huge support. I was studying part-time as well, and being able to bounce ideas off her was invaluable. She also helped me prepare for my first panel discussion and introduced me to others working in the sector, opening doors I wouldn’t have had access to otherwise.
Without the A/AA program, I genuinely wouldn’t have had these opportunities. I’m so thankful for the experience and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking to grow their network, build confidence, and explore where they can make an impact in aviation."
Angela Zhang:
"Joining the A/AA Mentoring program has been an amazing opportunity. I was very fortunate to have been paired up with an industry professional who is already working in the field I aspire to be in. The program has not only helped me expand my network but also allowed me to see real world aviation, being able to speak to and learn from someone with extensive experience in the field has made my goals feel much more within reach."
Manatsawee Limprapuwiwattana:
"The A/AA Reaching Higher Mentor Program has been truly fantastic, and I would like to express my sincere gratitude to A/AA and the entire team. I was paired with a mentor who has been incredibly supportive. We engaged in discussions on various topics, particularly on how a Ph.D. student like myself can translate research into the real world and contribute to the aviation industry. The mentorship not only provided me with valuable ideas and industry insights but also equipped me with the necessary technical knowledge and soft skills to kick-start my career in the field."
Josh Castronova:
"I had the privilege of participating in the Aviation/Aerospace Australia mentoring program, and it was an invaluable experience. Blair, my mentor, played a pivotal role in guiding me through the intricacies of the industry. His insights and support were instrumental in ensuring a smooth transition during the crucial first weeks of a new job. I extend my gratitude to both Blair and the program for their commitment to fostering professional growth and connection within the aviation/aerospace sector."
Dr Aneesha Varghese-Cowan:
“Totally recommend this to anyone who is considering being a mentor. I found the experience enriching and insightful - allowing me to look at things in a totally different light.”
Linda Spurr:
"I’ve had the pleasure of being a part of A/AA Mentoring Program for a few years now. And when I say it’s a pleasure, it genuinely is. I’ve met new people, enjoyed seeing their growth and gained a deeper understanding of parts of our industry. I’ve found mentoring to be satisfying, interesting and often thought provoking. A/AA provides good support to mentors and mentees throughout the program."
Davida Forshaw:
"Being a mentor in the Aviation/Aerospace Australia Reaching Higher Mentoring Program has been an incredibly rewarding experience. It's truly amazing to witness the growth and success of your mentee, and that's exactly what I found with Sarah. From the very beginning, we connected on a great level. Our sessions, whether on Zoom, phone calls, or even over brunch at local coffee shops, were always engaging and productive. We covered a wide range of topics that were important to Sarah's goals, including navigating the application process for her dream job as a pilot and crafting a few compelling scholarship applications. Sarah's dedication and enthusiasm were truly inspiring. It was a joy to see her tackle challenges head-on and celebrate her victories along the way. The best part? She achieved incredible results! Not only did Sarah land her first flying job as a flying instructor, but she was also awarded a well-deserved scholarship from the International Society of Women Airline Pilots. The Reaching Higher Mentoring Program provided a fantastic framework for mentorship, but the real magic lies in the connection between mentor and mentee. I'm incredibly proud of Sarah's accomplishments and so grateful to the program for allowing me to be a part of her journey. If you're looking for a way to make a positive impact, the Reaching Higher Mentoring Program is an incredible opportunity."
