INAUGURAL LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP AWARD

A/AA awarded its first Honorary Lifetime Membership to Adjunct Professor Brian O’Keeffe AO to acknowledge the significant contribution he has made to the Australian Aviation and Aerospace Industries at the A/AA Executive Networking Evening on 10 April at RMIT University.

Professor Brian O'Keeffe AO, is recognized widely as one of the giants of Aviation history in Australia, having played a major part in putting Australia's reputation for excellence in aviation on the world stage. In particular he is responsible for most optical/electronics/navigation systems in Australia and is currently leading similar projects in Singapore at Changi Airport. For example, his systems are installed in every Boeing aircraft. Brian was a head of many departments in this sector including General Manager, R & D and ICAO Affairs in the Civil Aviation Authority of Australia.

Brian was appointed an Officer in the Order of Australia "for service to civil aviation, particularly international civil aviation” and he has been admitted into the Engineering Hall of Fame in Australia.

Brian has received awards from the US Federal Aviation Administration, Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore and Received the highest award of the International Civil Aviation Organisation, the Edward Warner Award, "in recognition of your eminent contribution to the development of international civil aviation, in particular your leading role in the field of air navigation systems.
