Hallam Senior College Inspires the Next Generation of Aviation/Aerospace Engineers

On Tuesday 22nd October, Year 11 Physics students at Hallam Senior College had a very rare privilege of exploring not just one, but two Boeing 787 Dreamliner passenger jets including one which was brand new and recently delivered to Qantas. This field trip, which occurs in October each year, is part of Unit 2 Physics where student study aerospace to answer the question, ‘How do heavy things fly?’. Thanks to a close connection our college has with Jetstar and other aerospace organisations such as Aviation Aerospace Australia, students have very special access to highly secure facilities where they can relate their classroom learning to real-life aerospace applications. In the afternoon, the class also had the opportunity to explore the HEMS helicopters at Air Ambulance Victoria to learn about how these amazing machines fly and speak with the dedicated paramedics and pilots who operate these life-saving aircraft.

We extend our sincere thanks to our friends at Aviation Aerospace Australia, Jetstar, Air Ambulance Victoria and Melbourne Airport.
